Behind the scenes of the blends: Vintage 2023 at Château Saint-Maur Cru classé
The year 2023 brought its share of climatic challenges to our vineyards, marked by weather vagaries ranging from a rainy spring to a scorching summer. These conditions demanded particular attention from our vines and the ripening of the grapes.
Despite these variations, the quality of the juice harvested is remarkable. The 2023 vintage looks promisingA well-balanced wine with rich, expressive aromas. However, patience will be required before you can savour this nectar.
We are now in the middle of the blending period. The fermentations are over, leaving room for a crucial stage: harmonising the juices from the different grape varieties. Our aim is clear: to create delicate, fresh Côtes de Provence Cru Classé rosés, whites and reds.
At Château Saint-Maur, each plot is treated with particular care, harvested and vinified separately. This piecemeal approach allows our team, led by Patrick Galliano - oenologist and technical director, and Amélie Rimbaud - cellar master, to appreciate the che unique characteristics of each grape variety and terroir during blending tastings.
This is how our cuvées are created, like a work of art in which each grape variety is a hue on a palette, harmoniously selected to create a balanced painting of taste. The 2023 vintage offers notable aromatic complexity with well-structured, well-balanced wines expressing subtle aromas of white-fleshed and stone fruits.
Stay tuned to discover the 2023 vintage wines that we are creating with passion for your tasting pleasure.
